The UK Ancestry visa is a little known visa category which permits certain individuals to live and work in the UK by virtue of their parentage.
To be more specific, an individual who has a grandparent who was born in the UK and Islands may be eligible provided the grandparent in question is related either by blood or by adoption. There are of course additional criteria to be met, including the requirement for the individual to be a Commonwealth citizen.
Provided all the requirements are met, an individual can be granted a visa for up to five years to live and work in the UK.
